Introduction and Welcome

by Jim Garrett

On behalf of the faculty and staff, I wish to welcome you to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. We hope your experience at Carnegie Mellon is both productive and rewarding and, toward these ends, we shall be pleased to help you in any way possible.

This handbook is intended to supplement University information found in the Carnegie Mellon Graduate Student Handbook. Please review both handbooks as soon as you have the opportunity to become familiar with departmental and university policies. Naturally, if you have any questions, either your academic advisor, our Graduate Program Administrator Maxine Leffard or I shall be happy to answer them.

Again, welcome aboard, and best wishes for a successful year.
